ConSensQ – Advancing Quality Management for Recycled Plastics
Building on the results of the CosPaTox initiative, ConSensQ is a new European consortium dedicated to improving quality management for recycled plastics in contact-sensitive applications. Shaped by leading industry actors and coordinated by Consortia Management GmbH, the consortium officially begins at the end of October 2025, following a successful four-month Pre-Consortium phase with strong industry participation.
ConSensQ’s mission is to develop a voluntary industry guideline that enables the safe use of post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics in sensitive products, packaging, and devices. The guidance will show how PCR plastics can be applied safely without relying on full batch-by-batch release testing, offering a cost-efficient and practical alternative.
By providing clear, actionable recommendations for quality managers, purchasers, and regulatory professionals across the plastics value chain — from recyclers and converters to brand owners and retailers — ConSensQ aims to support a safe and effective circular economy.
